Dr. Hunter Haley is excited to be joining Oxford Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine. Hunter Haley, MD was born and raised in Northport, AL where he was an avid football and baseball player through high school. He went on to complete his undergraduate degree in Sports Medicine at Samford University and obtained a Masters in Rural Community Health from the University of Alabama. He then attended medical school at the University of Alabama at Birmingham where he was awarded the G. Gayle Stephens MD Award for Outstanding Achievement in Family Medicine. He then went on to complete a Family Medicine Residency with an Area of Concentration in Sports Medicine at the University of Florida in Gainesville, FL where he served as Chief Resident and was named Resident of the Year in 2021.
Dr. Haley then went on to complete a Sports Medicine Fellowship at the Andrews Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center in Birmingham, AL. During this time, he served as a team physician for Samford University and Homewood High School. He also cared for athletes from the University of Alabama, Auburn University, Troy University, Miles College, and the University of West Alabama. He also served as a team physician for the Birmingham Barons (Chicago White Sox AA affiliate), WWE ringside physician, Mercedes-Benz marathon physician, team physician for the inaugural United States Football League (USFL) season, and physician for the 2022 World Games in Birmingham, AL. He serves as Sports Medicine Specialist for both Ole Miss Athletic teams and Delta State University Athletics.
Dr. Haley has a passion for non-operative orthopedics and team coverage. He enjoys caring for patients at all stages in their athletic pursuits, from the young athlete to those who are trying to remain active. His particular interests include office-based procedures (often utilizing ultrasound-guidance), non-operative management of acute and chronic musculoskeletal problems, and sports concussion management. He is also an active member of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine.
In his spare time, Dr. Haley enjoys spending time with his wife, Julia, and their son, Hunt. He also enjoys hunting, fishing, and any other activities in the outdoors.
